Hiking - Walking: Nacton Foreshore Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: Distance Covered: 3 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Thursday 10th September – walk **** Nacton Foreshore – sunny
periods.
Woke to a lovely day in Felixstowe and after yesterdays gusty windsurfing
session at Levington I decided to give today a miss as the wind was again
offshore with poor tides and save myself for a trip to Point Clear tomorrow
and hope the rain stays away! So had a relaxing morning enjoying the
sunshine in the garden repairing a couple of sails and doing my exercises.
Then after some yummy home-made soup for lunch and being too nice a day to
waste Mag and I decided to go for a walk as a bit too breezy for the bikes!
We ended up at the car park by the River Orwell at Nacton Shores heading
down to the river with the tide low there were several waders feeding and a
few yachts out on the water. We turned right for a change towards Ipswich
along a path through the woods with the swanky Orwell Park Private School.
You eventually run out of path and have to walk along the foreshore with
its many impressive dead trees. We passed the small beach front cottage and
continue along the beach as the wind eases but the sun disappears. We hoped
to head inland to do a circular route back to the van but there are no
footpaths so returned the way we had come. So, a pleasant 3-mile walk
taking a couple of hours spotting a few squirrels and green woodpeckers :)
